Trains are the most comfortable way of getting to Casablanca and Rabat. If you're heading to Tangier it's possible to do the trip in one go, most easily by booking (in advance) a couchette on the night train (10-12hrs); this must be done on the morning of the day of travel.

Buses to most long-distance destinations leave from the main terminal at Bab Doukkala . Buy tickets a day in advance - or turn up early - for the more popular destinations such as Fes, El Jadida, Taroudannt or Zagora, and note that CTM and all the private companies have their own individual ticket windows - choices can be more extensive than at first appears. CTM also has an office on Boulevard Mohammed Zerktouni in Gueliz, near the ONMT office, where you can buy tickets, and where some of the buses make a secondary call.

Supratours express buses for Essaouira, Agadir and Laayoune leave from the new bus station by the train station in Gueliz, though they only sell tickets if there is space after the allocation for train passengers from Casablanca/Rabat. Grands taxis are generally on hand to pick up the overflow at these times and are good value, a place to Agadir costing around 80dh.

Grands taxis can also be useful for other destinations and run from Bab Doukkala and Bab Er Robb.

Taxis run less frequently to other destinations but you could try asking some of the drivers at the stands in Djemaa El Fna and by Bab Er Raha (between Avenue Mohammed V and Bab Doukkala). Essaouira and Agadir are both possible.

Buses to local destinations , including Ourika, Asni (the trailhead for Djebel Toubkal) and Moulay Brahim, leave from just outside Bab Er Robb . (Some buses also run to Asni from the Bab Doukkala bus station).

There are flights from Marrakesh airport to Geneva, London and Paris plus Agadir and Casablanca within Morocco
