Traveler DescriptionThe palace once belonged to one of Marrakech's last great chiefs, Layadi. Its extraordinary architecture has been well-preserved: sculpted wooden and painted ceilings, ancient zellijs and majestic space. The whole place lives and breathes elegance and sophistication. As far as the food goes, Palais Soleiman offers a superb menu made up of new Moroccan dishes.

I'd have to say Palais Soleiman is probably one of the best restaurants my partner and I have ever been to...
To start off with, the architecture and surroundings at the restaurant are quite astonishing - it is, as the name suggests, a former Moroccan Palace, so perhaps this is to be expected but it is nonetheless quite beautiful. The main dining hall is in a large and extremely ornate courtyard open to the stars (not a major problem in Marrakech, since it rarely rains) - it is also worth noting the tables are extremely generously spaced, so you are afforded ample privacy compared to most restaurants.
To add to this, the service is quite exquisite, something that really stood out for us in Marrakech, since at many other venues the service is soso at best. On the night we visited they also had traditional moroccan musicians playing, with a solo and duet alternating to keep it interesting throughout the meal.
The menu is perhaps fairly limited, being basically a single set menu (although this is far from uncommon in Marrakech) but the display and taste of the food is exquisite and matches the high standards in every aspect of the restaurant. I'd have to add this was the most expensive restaurant we visited in Marrakech, with the meal coming in at approx L60 per head, but money well spent in our opinion, since the whole experience was far superior to what that amount would get you in many Western restaurants.
In conclusion to be honest I don't feel I've done the Soleiman justice but I can thoroughly recommend it to any visitor to Marrakech. It is far far superior to many better known (guide-book) restaurants as well, and definitely worth looking up...
