bemos
leave from central Jalan Raya: the east- and southbound bemos leave from the central marketplace, and the north- and westbound ones from in front of the tourist information office. There's a regular service between Ubud and Kintamani (brown bemos usually; 1hr), and frequent turquoise-and-orange bemos go to Gianyar (20 min) via Goa Gajah (10min), where you can make connections to Padang Bai (for Lombok) and Candi Dasa, and to Singaraja and Lovina. Any journey south, to Kuta or Sanur, involves an initial bemo ride to Denpasar's Batubulan station (50min), plus at least one cross-city connection
. To reach western Bali and Java by bemo, you'll need to take an equally convoluted route via Batubulan.
