Western tourists are not officially permitted to cross between Burma and Laos at Xiang Kok, the lone border point between the two countries.

At the time of writing, Western tourists were not allowed to cross between Cambodia and Laos at the far southern end of Champasak province, although the crossing may open to foreigners in the near future.
