One restaurant stands out, a no-name place next to a small motorcycle repair shop, located directly opposite Dong Saghuane guesthouse, which serves up excellent Chinese dishes - particularly good are the pork fried in ginger and the pork fried with basil leaves - and passable European fare. This place is also renowned locally for its frozen yoghurt and does great fruit smoothies. Nang Vilai Phone, across from the market, turns out tangy bowls of fõe, while a few metres west towards the post office, a friendly no-name restaurant prepares good Lao meat and vegetable dishes.
