Guatemala is one of the best - and most popular - places in the continent to study Spanish . The language school industry is big business, with around sixty well-established schools and many more less reliable set-ups. Thousands of foreigners from all over the world study each year in Guatemala - mainly travellers, but also college students, airline crew and business people.

As for work , teaching English is the best bet, though there are always opportunities for committed volunteers .
