Aurora international airport
is on the edge of the city in Zona 13, some way from the centre. The
domestic terminal
is in the same complex, but with a separate entrance on Av Hincapié. There's a Banco del Quetzal (Mon-Fri 6am-8pm, Sat & Sun 6am-6pm) for currency exchange, plus 24-hour cashpoints which accept Visa, Mastercard, Cirrus and Plus cards. There's also a
tourist information office
(daily 6am-9pm; tel 331 4256) on the upper (departures) floor, a Telgua phone office and a post office (both Mon-Sat 7am-9pm).
Much the easiest way to get to and from the airport is by
taxi
: you'll find plenty of them waiting outside the terminal. The fare to or from Zona 1 is around US$10; from Zonas 9 and 10, around US$7.
Buses
also depart from directly outside the terminal, across the concrete plaza, dropping you in Zona 1, either on 5 Av or 9 Av - the last leaves around 8pm. Virtually all Guatemala City's four- and five-star hotels, and all the guesthouses in Zona 13, offer free pick-ups from the airport if you let them know when you're arriving.
If you're heading to
Antigua
, there are regular shuttle-bus services from the airport (US$10), though they don't run to a fixed schedule and only leave when they have at least three passengers. A taxi from the airport is US$25.
