Not only are they deluxe, they are always clean and all have refrigerators filled with an assortment of cold drinks.

The meals at the lodge are, like the fishing, legendary. Our chef and cooks dish out the finest food in the area. We never skimp on quality or quantity at mealtime. Whether its prime rib, scampi or Thanksgiving dinner you will never go short at TVL.

Over the past 85 years, Teton Valley Lodge has become recognized throughout the world as the dry fly fishing leader. Our reputation of always providing a great dry fly fishing experiences for our guests is known worldwide. We have set fishing records from the Rockies to Argentina to the Caribbean.

We have been carrying on the traditions we learned as young guides back in the 1950’s. The time tested techniques we learned from masters of fly fishing- the dry fly purists and the true fly fishermen who defined the term “fly fishermen”, as “those who always catch fish under any conditions on all rivers”.

Most of our fishermen come for 3 to 5 days of fishing. And, most come for more than one trip per season. TVL does not require a one week stay and you can arrive and depart on whichever days you wish. We always try to tailor you trip to suit your needs.

Now, with Matt and Brian as partners, the lodge has taken a big step forward by providing better organization and even better fishing experiences for our guests. The private accesses we have developed over the 40 years have helped assure our fishermen outstanding fishing that very few people ever get the chance to enjoy.

If you are looking for a first class lodge with the finest fly fishing in the West, if not the world, please visit our web site at www.tetonvalleylodge,com and give us a call. We will help you plan a trip that meets all your expectations.

Long Days or Short Days Your Choice

Many of our guests come to Teton Valley Lodge because we spend more actual fishing hours on the rivers than other outfitter and guide services. Our guides are expertly trained and we fish hard and long. We don’t hold anything in helping provide you with the greatest fly fishing vacation available in the world. That’s the Teton Valley Lodge goal.

We realize that some fishermen don’t want to hit it as hard as others. For this reason, we tailor the type of day that you want. If this means coming back to the lodge by 5,6, or 7 p.m., then this is what we will endeavor to do. Other than at our busiest time periods, this will be no problem. We are happy to do whatever will make your stay with Teton Valley Lodge an enjoyable one.

Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or expert, or have physical disabilities, Teton Valley Lodge is for you. In addition, if you want a long day or a short day, we can meet your needs at Teton Valley Lodge.

Nothing but the very best

Our favorite spring creek and the favorite river of many of our guests, the Teton River is a fly fisherman’s dream. Huge rainbow and cutts live throughout the entire ricer.
This is dry fly paradise! Mayfly hatches abound daily. Often there will be four or five different bugs coming off at the same time. It’s the guides job to pick out the correct pattern that will fool the largest fish.

The trout begin rising about 10 am each day and feeding goes on until dark. Imagine giant trout willing to sip your well-presented dry fly. We don’t get the 50 to 100 fish days that we get on the South Fork and the Henry’s Fork, what we do get is huge trout on small dry flies. It is an exhilarating experience to cast light lines to 20” plus fish on flat water.

Sometimes these giants take up permanent residence at a vantage point in the weed growth. Many other fish seem to prefer cruising the feed lanes in the river grass for their food. Others hang below obstructions along the banks. It can truly be said that there are giant trout from bank to bank and all down the Teton. Wherever they are, it is always a challenge to get a good drag free cast over these trophies, but when you do, you are usually rewarded with a beautiful fat rainbow or cutthroat.

The water in front of the lodge is flat spring creek water running through pastureland. Casts are about 40-50 feet in length. We use 10-ft leaders. The only other water that we know which is similar to this is the Railroad Ranch section of the Henry’s Fork.

Below the lodge, willows line the banks and the water speeds up just a little. This is mayfly and caddis water. The bottom is gravel lined with deep pools and long runs. Rainbows love this water because of the added speed. They like to lay in the shade under the willows and wait for natural insects to float by. Casts here are shorter because of the added speed and depth.

We fish the upper water in 20 ft. Teton River boats especially designed for this river. Each fisherman has a swivel seat. The guide sits in the back of the boat and uses two 10 ft. poles to position the boat. We originated this boat almost 80 years ago. This water can not effectively be fished with any other kind of boat.

The lodge has taken nearly 20,000 float trips and landed approximately 1,000,000 trout over the last 85 years of fishing the Teton River. We believe it to be one of the three greatest dry fly rivers in the world. Your chance of casting dry flies to wild rainbow and cutts over 20 inches are better on this river than any other in the west. Give it a try! Best times are late June through October.

Wading

At Teton Valley Lodge, we fish the best trout water in the entire world and much of that water is not accessible from a boat. The Fall River cannot even be guided from a boat. Along with the Fall, The Henry’s Fork, South Fork and Teton are full of secluded wading spots that are located in some of the most beautiful terrain in the west. Many of these spots are not accessible from the road and require hiking on some steep terrain. If you would like to explore these priceless fishing spots wading is the way to go.

Last year we took many successful wading trips in the narrows and on the Henry’s Fork. They were a lot of fun. Many of these places are difficult to wade and hike into. For most spots the fisherman need to be physically fit.

On a wading trip your guide will be able to help you learn techniques in an in depth way. These techniques include casting, fly selection, reading water, and tying knots. Your guide will be able to help you a lot one on one in these situations if you are a single fisherman. When two fishermen go out with one guide you will have some time to yourself to explore the water and to try out the techniques you have learned. For many, this is a rewarding experience. If it sounds like what you would like to do let us know and we can set it up.

Our tackle shop is stocked with equipment for wading. We can provide you with your own fly box and other tackle needed on a day of wading.

If you would like to get away from it all and feel the water rush around you as you search the river with some help from one of our experienced guides then lets go wading.
