The front area of the house had 2 large trees that provided shade in the summertime, but hid the house from the outside world (and made it impossible to get homeowners insurance). These trees were removed and replaced with 2 small flowering trees with plenty of room to grow. Shrubs in the planters were replaced with butterfly bushes and pansies.
Though once a drab grey trimmed in green, 137-9 Brown Street is now the color of the Caribbean sky on a sunny day, trimmed with just a touch of "cloud white."
The Maui Suite used to be carpeted with tan carpeting in the front and bedroom areas. Carpeting was pulled up, and the original hardwood floors were refinished, repaired and refurbished. .
Property amenities:
The closet-bar was as you see it, but the 2-person Jacuzzi was their idea of a "must have" item
The Maui Suite is a one-bedroom condo unit adjacent to the main house. It is decorated in the "style of the islands" , complete with a private bath and private entrance.
The next room of the suite is the bedroom, furnished with a queen-size canopy bed, tropical ceiling fan,
full closet with sliding doors,
television and a desk.
This unit is equipped with wi-fi (wireless high-speed internet access) for those who wish to bring their laptop along on their visit.
The bathroom is equipped with both a shower and a bathtub. The back of the suite offers a full kitchen, stocked with breakfast favorites that you can prepare at your leisure in the morning.
The Key West Room is located on the second floor. It is decorated in pastel colors and is furnished with a queen size bed and a full-size wooden futon. It is a spacious room with a view of Newcom Park from it’s 2 east-facing windows.

The name "Inn Port" is a play on words, centered around 2 passions in the lives of the owners. Both Leslie and Jeff have a love for cruising. As Leslie says, "When other kids were making road trips every year to the Grand Canyon and Disney World with their parents, we were saving up to go on a cruise every other year." By the time of their honeymoon, Leslie had already been on 6 cruises. Never having cruised, Jeff wasn’t convinced about the cruise thing, though he had worked on a boat for the Jet Express company in Port Clinton, Ohio for several summers during college. He booked their honeymoon aboard Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas, and by the end of the first full day, he was hooked. Since then, they have been on 6 more cruises and are always looking to take another. You can’t have a cruise without the ship pulling "in port," so it seemed only natural that they take this as their name for their own lodging establishment, naming the rooms after different ports of call.
The second reference in the name may be a little more subtle. On that first cruise together, they attended a wine tasting. That began a 6 year and counting fascination with the world of wine and wine-making, be it "port", cabernet or chenin blanc. You’ll note that the dining area of the main house reflects this theme.

One night’s deposit is required at the time your reservation is made. Cancellation must be made seven days in advance of arrival for a full refund minus a $5 processing fee.
Our Pet Policy
Small dogs (under 25 lbs.) are welcome in the Maui Suite with their owners for an extra $15 per night, limit 2. We regret that we cannot allow other types of animals, due to the owner’s allergies.
No pets may be booked in the Key West or New Orleans rooms.
We do have 2 small dogs on site. Being of the poodle and bichon frise breeds, they are supposedly "hypo-allergenic," but if you are severely allergic to dogs, please be advised, as they do at times have access to all rooms of the house.
Our Smoking Policy
No Smoking in the house.
Although the exterior is brick, being built in the 1800s, fire and the structure don’t mix.
Smoking is allowed on the front patio.
Please be courteous to your fellow guests.
Our Alcohol Policy
Guests over the age of 21 are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Refrigeration and ice are available—just ask!
If you will be celebrating a special occasion while at Inn Port and wish to have something special to do so, let us know and we will make every effort to accommodate this.
Each evening from 5:30-6:30pm we invite you to join us in the dining room and parlor area for a cold beverage from our famous keg-erator, homemade wine reserves or non-alcoholic beverages that we have on hand.
