Discover a peaceful retreat, steeped in the spirit of the North Carolina Mountains. The historic Inn was built approximately 170 years ago (by slaves) as a stage coach stop, later it operated as a sanitorium, an artists retreat and since 1989 as The Black Mountain Inn.

Delicious, and I mean Delicious, breakfast buffets are served in the great room each morning featuring June’s fabulous homemade granola. Fresh fruits and homemade breads or biscuits accompany a delicious main course with gourmet coffee or tea.
More than 5,000 square feet of interior space and 3 landscaped gardens and wooded acres offer our guests room to discover the antiquity and feeling of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The house was built originally as a stage coach stop approximately 160 years ago. The inn has enjoyed an interesting as well as illustrious past, making this site an integral part of the "Valley Lore"At the turn of the century, the home was owned by Martha Mallory who operated the inn as a TB Sanitorium until her untimely death. She was killed on the railroad tracks on her way home from town. The house fell into ruin and became a squatter’s camp complete with cows stabled in the dining room!

Policy:
Accomodations
Prices are based on double occupancy and include a full breakfast. Each room has a private bath with claw foot tub or tub/shower. Most beds are antique full size with some queen size available. The Artist Loft will accommodate more than two people. Rates range from $98-158 per night and are subject to 10.5% state and local tax. Single rates are $6 less per room. Additional people in a room are $10 each. Rates are subject to change without notice, except for advance deposit reservations
Reservations
A deposit equal to a minimum of one night’s room rate, or 50% of the entire stay’s rate, whichever is greater, is due within seven days of making your reservation. A confirmed reservation obligates both the Black Mountain Inn and the guest for the entire length of the stay reserved. Should your plans change, be sure to call us at least 14 days prior to your reservation to ensure a refund of your deposit. In the event of a late cancellation or an early departure, guests are responsible for the entire reserved stay. Deposits are not transferable to another date, however, you are always welcome to send a friend in your place.
Children
Well-behaved, closely-supervised children are welcome in rooms that accommodate an additional person. Please let us know in advance if you will be traveling with children.

We accept VISA, Mastercard, American Express, travelers checks, cash and personal checks.
Pets
Well-behaved, supervised pets are welcome in rooms that are pet friendly. A $10 pet fee will be added to your room rate to allow for the additional housekeeping required to accommodate pets.
Smoking
Smoking is only allowed outside the inn.
Check-in and Check-out
The innkeeper requests that you check in between 4 pm and 6 pm. If you plan to arrive earlier or later, please make arrangements in advance by telephone.
Check-out is 11:00 am.
