Located in the heart of Monte Vista Historical District is a magnificent two-story, award-winning Italian Villa surrounded by lush gardens, a 45-foot swimming pool and a full rooftop patio which overlooks downtown San Antonio.
Bonner Garden Bed and Breakfast is conveniently located minutes from downtown San Antonio, the San Antonio Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Witte Museum, the McNay Art Institute, the San Antonio Museum of Art, Trinity University and the University of Incarnate Word. Guests enjoy easy access to both Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas, as well as many of the fine area restaurants. Guests enjoy walking through Monte Vista, with its magnificent homes built near the turn of the century.
Bonner Garden guest rooms have king or queen size beds, private baths (some with Jacuzzi tubs), televisions, VCRs and telephones. Most rooms, including the living room, are equipped with high speed internet connections. While each room is tastefully furnished with quality antiques, reproductions and artwork, the emphasis is on comfort. A video library and growing Texana collection are available for guests’ enjoyment. A full gourmet breakfast is served daily and refreshments are available at all times.
The Bonner Garden Bed & Breakfast is featured in the November 23, 2003 issue of The New York Times travel section.
Your hosts, Margi and Jim Herbold are sure to make you feel welcome. They constantly strive to maintain a clean, comfortable oasis for their guests, where everyone can feel at home. Dining Room
The focal point of the dining room is a working fireplace decorated with Italian tiles (chosen by Mary Bonner on one of her trips to Europe) and topped with a Mercer mantle piece. Over the fireplace is a painting of a Spanish conquistador. It is unknown whether this was originally installed when the home was built or at a later date. The large dining table seats eight people comfortably.
Living Room
Our goal here is to provide a comfortable setting for our guests to relax. Play a game of Chinese checkers, solitaire or Scrabble. Plug your laptop computer into a high speed internet connection to do research, e-mail or surf the web. The comfortable chairs and sofa are perfect to curl up on and read a book (pick out Texana books from the front shelves). Enjoy the artwork, admire the antique secretary and put some soft music on the stereo.
