The President of the Honduran Republic has officially proclaimed La Ceiba the "Eco-tourism and Entertainment Capital" of Honduras and not without good reason.
Backdropping La Ceiba you will find the Pico Bonito National Park, the largest of its kind in Honduras, covering more than 107,300 acres, 17 main river basins, seven distinct ecosystems and six different types of forests, thousands of spectacular waterfalls and a diversity of flora and fauna in danger of extinction.
To the immediate east of La Ceiba is the Rio cangrejal, largest and most important water resource of the region, which, with its class 2, 3 and 4 rapids, is ideal for white water rafting and kayaking.
