Acknowledged as Robert Adam’s final masterpiece, the present castle dates from 1892 and took 15 years to build. Adam created the castle for David, 10th Earl of Cassillis, on a site associated with the Kennedy family since the 14th century. M13559 is situated in over 600 acres of land, which became Scotland’s first Country Park. The grounds include the Walled Garden and Victorian Vinery, the Swan Pond, Deer Park and the Home Farm - also designed by Adam, and now the Park Visitor Center.
M13559 is one of Scotland's best loved Castles, offering something for everyone to enjoy. M13559 has a long tradition of welcoming local people, members of The National Trust for Scotland and holiday makers from all around the world. The Castle, gardens, visitor center, shops and restaurants are open daily between 1 April to 29 October.
During the Winter season our Visitor Center Shops and Restaurant are open each Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11.00am until 4.00pm (with the exception of Monday 18 December 2006 until Wednesday 10 January 2007, re-opening on Thursday 11 January 2007).
