The largest 15th Century Knight’s Castle in Pomerania. It is built on oak piles, like the buildings in Venice and is the only castle on water in Poland. Legend has it that the number of windows in the castle relates to the number of days in the week, the number of rooms to the number of weeks, the number of entrances to the number of months and the four towers represent the four seasons. It is an unusually picturesque building set in ornamental grounds and is counted among the most interesting and beautiful ancient buildings in Europe.
In the 19th century it was known as the Castle of Flowers. The close position of the hotel to the Castle Lake in the middle of the forest, away from the hubbub of the city, create the ideal conditions for work, recreation and relaxation. The stylish interiors and the use of modern technological solutions link together tradition, modern facilities and convenience.
Program and Attractions for children: Fantasy in the Castle Tower,
Evening Treasure Hunts and more - contribute to creating an unforgettable holiday for the whole family.
Property amenities:
The luxurious hotel was opened in 1996. Its guests can have breakfast and rest in the castle rooms which are equiped with "diabolic devices" - TV set, mini -bar, telephone, shower or bath, but though the rooms are now very comfortable apartements, the castle legend is still there: on a moonlight night in the dark maze of the corridors you can hear the sounds of a ministrel’s harp and courtiers loud laughter.
Nearby attractions and activities:
Chapel.
A small church built in 1580 has many renaissance elements: the Pulpit, the Font and Stalls. In the tomb chapel added to the church in 1700 there are two baroque sarcophagus: a brass one - for Henryk von Podewils, who died in 1696 and a stone one, richly decorated with sculptures - Adam von Podewils, who died in 1697.
Leba
A beautiful Baltic sea resort, a summer capital of Poland, located at the opening site of the Slowinski National Park which has been accepted by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve. Just on the sea shore there are vast sand dunes which look like a desert. The dunes wander from the sea into the nearby lake where they will eventually sink.
Pomeranian Lake District 230 km
The Middle Coast is just endless sand beaches, hundreds of crystal clean lakes and vast forests. This land contains rich heritage of the ages with its gothic churches and residence houses of well known German nobility families. There are still some outback places here that hardly anyone has ever visited.
Megaliths
In Borkowo there are 5000 years old megalithic tombs which give evidence of ancient religious beliefs present there. They combine the worship of dead ancestors with the worship of the Sun, which is indicated by the tomb placement in relation to the geographic directions.
Wielin
It is a small village located on a lake and surrounded by forests. An old baroque church built in 1698 is worth seeing. Inside, there is the main altar, the pulpit and a principal’s stall. A copper font dates back to the time of Renaissance. The altar, which is a work by a country shepherd, was ranked "0" class (like the historic objects in Kraków).
Location:
The 15th-century Knights Castle lies 30 kilometres from Dar'owo and 40 kilometres from Koszalin and S'upsk.
