Located on The Akrotiri, an unspoilt peninsular in Western Crete, is a beautiful sandy cove called Tersanas. In the valley above the cove is situated Villa Venetiana very close to the village of Horafakia, where there are a selection of traditional tavernas, a bakery, supermarket, and a café neon/mini market and all this is just 12 kilometers from the city of Chania.
Villa Venetiana is designed in the Venetian style, with pink-washed walls, mosaic tiles and deep green woodwork, the typical color theme employed in the old Cretan "metochi" or manor house of the Venetian Aristocracy. However, the Venetians would never have seen such an enchanted garden as that created by Yiannis, the owner of Villa Venetiana, who is a Cretan sculptor and artist. Yiannis has been creating this uniquely imaginative whimsy as his monument and is constantly in search of unusually shaped rocks or stones to add to his creation. Minoan red pillars, vibrantly painted panels around the splendid pool and stone niches compete for the eye's attention with Yiannis' own sculptures. Each of the maisonettes is on two floors, with a decorative wrought-iron spiral staircase leading to the first-floor bedroom.
Tersanas is an ideal choice for a relaxing holiday. Villa Venetiana in Tersanas is the ideal solution for those without children to find true peace and relaxation. The setting is wonderfully secluded, the pool is gorgeous and each of the eight maisonettes are only ever rented to two adults so that the pool and gardens never become crowded.
