The accommodation is in 14 secluded and luxurious tented suites, each with a thatched canopy and spacious bathroom. The ten standard suites and four deluxe chalets are spaced out along the river bank under mature trees, with private decks for you to savour your own experience of the surrounding wilderness. All suites offer the epitome of the luxury safari experience. Bush noises lull you to sleep at night, and an unforgettable sunrise over the river greets you each morning. Impeccable furnishings have a contemporary, understated elegance, using natural tones and rich textures. The open plan reception area, lounge and dining room on the edge of the Zambezi are designed with classic architectural lines, lofty thatched roofs, and two enormous fireplaces for the cooler evenings. Furnishings are natural but sophisticated, with luxurious finishes. Crisp white tablecloths, starched napkins folded with pride into works of art each evening, an elegant lounge and library, and comfy sofas and armchairs provide a haven of easy luxury.
A wide copper-roofed veranda provides an informal space for al fresco dining or taking tea in the afternoon. Timber decks extend over the river flood plain for dining under the stars or relaxing around the campfire. During the day, the decks overlook a shallow-water reed bed, a fascinating microecology affording close study of bird and fish life as well as elephant, hippo, buffalo and waterbuck.
Royal Zambezi Lodge is very proud to bring internationally acclaimed chef, Nick Wilton, to Zambia. His cuisine is created from the freshest ingredients and served either at the long banquet table or at private tables under the stars. Breakfast and lunch can be served in the lodge or as a picnic after a morning of game watching. In the evenings guests gather at the legendary Sausage Tree Bar, unquestionably the best watering hole on the river. Built around an ancient tree, its timber deck extends right out over the swiftly flowing channel, the perfect spot for sipping an ice cold G & T while the sun sets in a fiery spectacle. Next to the bar is a long oval infinity pool set in a stunning natural timber deck, the perfect place for cooling off with a tall cocktail or sun tanning next to the river after a morning game drive.
