The Castle at Taunton is steeped in the drama and romance of English history. As exemplified by the Duke of Monmouth's officers, who in 1685 were heard "roistering at the Castle Inn" before they were defeated by the forces of King James II. Today The Castle lives at peace with its turbulent past but preserves the atmosphere of its ancient tradition.
Owned by the Chapman family for over 50 years the Castle has won a host of awards including 3AA Red Stars and RAC Gold Ribbon for the warmth of its hospitality and 3AA Rosettes and a Michelin Star for its food.

Walking Weekends
On these memorable long weekends you will experience two of life's greatest pleasures - award winning food and walking in the magnificent Somerset countryside.
One of your walks will take you to the highest point on the Mendip Hills, after visiting an 11th century working water mill where the flour is used to make bread at the Castle Hotel. Another takes you to the undulating terrain of the Quantocks visiting Cothelstone Hill where you have 360 degrees of magnificent views over Somerset and the Bristol channel. On the last day of this special weekend you will walk the Somerset Levels along the banks of the River Parrett. You will go through many pretty villages and as a final treat you will visit a traditional cider farm at Burrow Hill, famous for its cider brandy and aperitifs.
The weekend includes your accommodation, English breakfast, packed lunch, dinner and your guided walks. Prices start at just 415 pounds for three nights, 550 pounds for four.
Garden Party:
Our Garden Party continues to be one of our most popular events on our annual calendar and with bookings already being taken we would urge you to book in plenty of time. Be greeted with a glass of champagne and enjoy a fabulous lunch in our peaceful Norman rose garden whilst listening to the sounds of the Steve Graham Jazz Band. What better way to enjoy a summer afternoon?
Mistletoe and Wine:
As bookings begin to roll in for this year's festive season we can once again promise you a Christmas to remember. From carols and champagne around our huge Christmas tree to a fabulous New Orlean’s jazz lunch on Boxing Day. We are offering only the very best in our two and three day packages and with prices starting from as little as 385.00 pounds per person for two nights you really can't afford to delay. That not only includes your champagne and carols but also Christmas Eve dinner, mulled wine, Christmas Day lunch and dinner, two nights accommodation and breakfast.
