Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre (IVAC) is located on a 25-acre farm, set amidst coconut groves and landscaped gardens at the foot of the scenic Chamundi Hill. The first impression that registers in the mind upon entering IVAC is one of an all-encompassing feeling of peace and quiet. IVAC has been built keeping in mind the life giving principles of Vaastu (the ancient Indian science of placement, design and space). Large wind chimes welcome you with their musical sounds, to the main hospitality building, which is almost temple-like in ambience with its cool white paint and clean marble floors. You are led into the rooms that are exquisitely appointed with handcrafted furniture.
The finest feature of IVAC is the staff who are drawn from all communities and whose common aim is to heal. They are ever smiling and ready to help. The therapists who carry out the Ayurvedic treatments are all dedicated to healing and this is apparent in their polite and courteous attitude to guests. All treatments are preceded by a prayer offered by the therapists and this sets the tempo for the healing process. There is soothing music (the guest is offered a choice of music) that is played through out the treatment process and the experience is almost akin to a "thoughtless awareness".
Treatments at IVAC range from the regular Abhyanga (whole body massage) and the ever popular Shirodhara ( a continuous stream of oil poured over the forehead) to more advanced massage therapies such as Sarvangadhara, Patrapinda Sweda and Padaghata. Panchakarma, a detoxification treatment that takes a week or more is also offered for all those who wish to rid themselves of all the toxins accumulated in the body and mind due to a decadent lifestyle.

There is a choice of: Deluxe Cottages, Delux AC Rooms, Delux Rooms, Special Regular Rooms, Regular rooms. Each room is unique and has a character all its own. The Hatai Kuteera, which is built in the traditional North Kanara style is an outstanding example of the "boutique" style of IVAC. This room also boasts of a copper bath tub. The view of the Lalith Mahal Palace from all the rooms is a bonus that will not be easily forgotten. The nearby treatment rooms include all modern conveniences and the massage tables are specially designed and crafted out of single pieces of wood. The ambience in the treatment room is again temple-like and is very conducive to healing. Cleanliness is of paramount importance and IVAC scores over all Ayurveda centres on this issue as the entire place is completely spotless, inspite of the constant use of oil and other decoctions.
