Nestle into the most comfortable four-poster canopy bed you can imagine – one so high you need a step stool to climb in. Fluffy goose-down pillows, 330-thread count cotton sheets, and designer décor all combine to provide a romantic setting. Indulge in a glass of wine, and each other, while the fire crackles and basks you in its warm glow.

Awaken to the aroma of a gourmet breakfast served in our country dining room or outside veranda. Or, make arrangements for a private breakfast in your room. Belgian waffles, eggs Benedict, or our famous French toast tempt you, but we will happily accommodate special dietary requirements.

For a real retreat, stay close to the Inn. More than 4000 acres of hiking trails are just steps from the front door, and a delightful farm next door offers unique gifts and treats. Enjoy a massage in front of the fire, or arrange for a picnic. Take a nap in the hammock, and watch a spectacular sunset from the rear lawn.

For those who would rather be active, we can arrange horseback riding, mountain biking, golf at a Jack Nicklaus-designed course, kayaking, tennis, and many other sports. Full medi-spa facilities are available, so feel free to indulge in anything from a facial to a face-lift!

Property amenities:
Built by a descendent of Oliver Cromwell, the elegant Manor House contains nine large, private, romantic rooms filled with antiques and fine reproductions, five of which contain working fireplaces. The Suite has a StairMaster and two-person Jacuzzi, while other rooms have antique claw-foot soaking tubs. All rooms have private baths. High-speed wireless Internet service for those who must stay in touch. Perfect for corporate retreats.

The Chimneys Cottage offers three oversize guest rooms with a charming Colonial ambiance, two of which have working fireplaces. Several rooms can accommodate additional guests.

Cornwall Area Attractions

Located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Cromwell Manor Inn Bed and Breakfast offers the ideal place to enjoy history and the best of the 21st century! The perfect "home base" for a visit to the area any season of the year, many attractions are within an hour’s drive, and most are fewer than 15 minutes away. Unpack once, and enjoy something different every day! You can even be in Manhattan in about an hour, if you like. Here are some of our favorites:

Historic West Point
The United States Military Academy at West Point celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2002. Enjoy a football game, an outdoor concert, the cadets on parade, or the stunning views. Visitor’s center, Museum, and tours available year-round. Less than 15 minutes from Cromwell Manor, with a gorgeous drive in between.

Storm King Art Center
Storm King Art Center is a museum that celebrates the relationship between sculpture and nature. Five hundred acres of landscaped lawns, fields and woodlands provide the site for postwar sculptures by internationally renowned artists. The grounds are surrounded by the undulating profiles of the Hudson Highlands, a dramatic panorama integral to the viewing experience. Only five minutes drive from the Inn.

Dia:Beacon

Dia Art Foundation, one of the world’s preeminent contemporary art institutions, opened a new museum on May 18, 2003, housing its renowned but rarely seen permanent collection, comprising major works of art from the 1960s to the present. Located on the Hudson River in Beacon, New York, Dia:Beacon occupies a nearly 300,000-square-foot historic printing factory. Dia:Beacon is a short 20 minute drive from Cromwell Manor Inn.

The "Castles" of the Hudson
Some of the wealthiest families in the nation chose to live in the Hudson Valley. With breathtaking views of the river, the mansions of the Vanderbilts, the Rockefellers (Kykuit), and Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt are the crown jewels of area homes. Boscobel, Sleepy Hollow, and many other mansions are also open for you to enjoy the buildings and grounds. Cromwell Manor is in the best possible location, since all of these may be reached with a 30-60 minute drive in various directions.

Woodbury Common Premium Outlet
The largest outlet shopping center in the world, Woodbury Common offers incredible designer shoes and clothing, electronics, housewares, and jewelry in more than 220 stores in a setting like a charming small town. People come from around the world for the bargains. An easy 15-minute drive from the Inn, and we can supply a VIP coupon book to increase your savings.

Vineyards and Wineries
Both the oldest vineyard in the U.S.(Benmarl) and the oldest continuously-operating winery (Brotherhood Winery) in the country are nearby. Follow the Shawangunk Wine Trail, with tours and tastings at more than a dozen wineries, many of which have underground cellars, or cross the river for the Dutchess Wine Trail. Many special events are scheduled in fall, so give us a call!

New York Renaissance Faire
Leave the modern world behind for the Faire, where pleasure is the order of the day and entertainment is everywhere! Eleven main stages offer continuous performances by jugglers, jesters, minstrels and magicians. Witness a daring joust of armored knights on charging steeds. Watch fascinating demonstrations in age-old crafting traditions. Tantalizing aromas tempt you at every turn to feast, or quench your summer thirst with fine ales, sweet mead or refreshing soft drinks. Less than 30 minutes away, the Faire is a treat in August and September.

Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival
The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival is a critically-acclaimed regional theater, attracting audiences from the tri-state area and beyond. Shakespeare scholars, critics and enthusiastic fans laud its spare, clear and compelling productions. Set on the beautiful property of Boscobel Restoration, plays are offered all summer. Bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn before the show. Twenty minutes drive from the Manor, or a swim across the Hudson!

Outdoor Adventures
With 4000 acres of hiking trails just outside our front door, and the Hudson River minutes away, Cromwell Manor Inn is ideal for those seeking fun and adventure out of doors. Allow us to arrange horseback riding, hot-air ballooning, mountain biking, kayaking, golf at the Jack Nicklaus designed Mansion Ridge golf course or the beautiful Central Valley golf course, tennis, snowshoeing, and many other sports. We will even pack a picnic with prior arrangement, and can frequently accommodate one-way transportation.

Jones Farm

A short walk from the inn brings you to a small, family owned farm where you can buy homemade fudge, cookies, pastries, or very unique gifts. Pet the miniature horses and goats or feed the chickens. Guests at the inn are invited to feed Polly, the 600 pound (and growing) pig!
