We decided to build with a foot inside the forest and the result is that we have built all around some trees already there before our arrival. But it was worth it. We have a single room and five double, four of which can accommodate up to four beds. Gross total equal nineteen. Every room with its own bath and hot shower . Every room with its own exterior and covered space, that will allow You to feel in direct and lonely contact with Nature. The whole building allows to rest in open air protected from the rain by an arcade running all around. On the roof a terrace with a panoramic view. In conclusion, we have built a small gem to permit to live at the very best a situation that is only... to be experienced.
The restaurant is dedicated to residents and therefore isn't going to be very crowded and noisy. One can eat inside or outside and the meeting between Ecuadorian and Italian cooking will be an advantage for You.
We call it Bird Lodge too and that’s quite easy to explain: birding at Pachijal comes natural because birds are all around.
You can hear and see them from your room when you wake up in the morning… the toucans like to rest on the roof, Andean Guan sings below the Lodge. You can birdwatch from our roof terrace, located on the top of canopy, we have some (not many) hummingbird feeders around the porch and in the garden. The garden has been provided with many flowers the hummingbirds appreciate, to make you able to watch them in a natural way.
We built some observations boxes, that way you can birdwatch comfortably even when raining and you can take it easy doing that.
We implemented 40km of trails inside and on the edge of Cloudforest, you can walk them on your own or followed by Sandro, our native licensed birding guide, or by Renan or Julia too.
Furthermore, we are in the middle of the Valley of Mindo and so we are quite close to the best birding locations in the area as Yanacocha Reserve, Tandayapa and Bellavista (Paseo del Quinde or Old Road to Nono), Mindo village, Sanctuaries of Birds of Milpe and Rio Silanche. That way you can have only one lodging point with daily visits to those locations

Birding packages have been arranged for those that want to visit Mindo to watch birds as their main activity, due to the fact that Mindo is known world wide for their bird watching activities.
Pachijal conducts birdwatching activities partly inside the reserve, followed by a local guide and a licensed guide, specialized in bird watching in the cloud forest, and partly via excursions in the Valley of Mindo, with Pachijal’s own transport and followed by a licensed guide specialized in bird watching in the cloud forest.
