Under special arrangements with the Cornell University Esbaran Amazon Field Laboratory located at the Amazon Yarapa River Lodge, Peru offers your educational institution the opportunity for student groups to visit one of the Amazon's most rewarding nature destinations.

We have worked very closely with neighboring tribes to develop the Yarapa River Rain forest Reserve. This reserve encompasses 10 square miles of pristine, undeveloped rain forest that surrounds the Amazon Yarapa River Lodge. We have pledged to the tribes that we will not build on it and that it will remain a place of wilderness forever. Within our Yarapa River Rain forest Reserve and in the adjoining Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve scientists and undergraduates at the Cornell University Esbaran Field Laboratory continue to study the flora and fauna of the area.

Located deep within the Amazon rain forest of Peru, the Amazon Yarapa River Lodge is ideally situated to provide the best opportunities for Amazon wildlife, nature, and Indian culture. The Amazon Yarapa River Lodge is located on the Yarapa River, a pristine tributary of the Amazon River: immerse yourself in the amazing biodiversity of the rain forest.

Property amenities:
Our private suites are bungalows for double-occupancy, each with private bath facilities. Our lodge rooms are private double-occupancy rooms with shared bath facilities, female and male fully furnished bathrooms all connected via elevated covered walkways. The lodge features a relaxing hammock house, dining room and lounge area.

Location:
The Amazon Yarapa River Lodge is located on the eastern edge of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, the largest national reserve in Peru.

Packages:
From Iquitos you board our main transport boat that will take you on the 110 mile cruise up the Amazon river and eventually to the Yarapa river, a remote tributary of the Amazon. Guests can choose from a wide range of activities. Embark unforgettable adventures, including guided hikes, wildlife viewing boat rides, piranha fishing, and paddles in a genuine Amazon canoe. Then come home to the comforts of the lodge. Enjoy delicious local cuisine in our screened in dining area. Relax in our hammock house that overlooks the river.

Remote lakes of the jungle and Pink Dolphins: Awake to the sounds of birds. Enjoy a trip exploring three remote and pristine lakes to view birds, primates, and pink dolphins. Explore the natural areas of the Amazon. Giant water lilies, Indian village, and canoing: off to explore the famous giant water lilies of the Amazon. So large, they can support a small child. There is also a good chance to see the prehistoric Hoatzin birds. Visit an authentic Indian village. Once there, you will have the opportunity to trade for many hand-made crafts if you wish.

Macaws and Caimans: a lengthy jungle cruise to see some beautiful macaws with a spear-fishing demonstration by local hunters. Night on the river: we will take the boat out to look for caimans hiding along the river banks. Medicinal plant hike, Piranha fishing: a morning rain forest hike that will feature some medicinal plants found in the area. This hike will be led by a nearby shaman (medicine man) who is a local expert on the plant life in the area. In the afternoon, you have the chance to fish for piranha.
