Kaskattama Goose Lodge is one of the few goose hunting lodges left on the Hudson Bay coast. Located on Cape Tatnam near the mouth of the Kaskattama River in northern Manitoba, Kaska is a hunters' paradise. Although the lodge is located amid the wild beauty of the Hudson Bay coast 650 miles north of Winnipeg, MB., it is readily accessible to our goose hunters via private charters originating in Winnipeg. The Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft transports 8 hunters in comfort and safety.
In addition to the excellent hunting for snow, blue, Ross and Canada geese, ptarmigan and a variety of ducks, Kaskatamma is a nature lover’s delight. Kaska is located near a major denning area for polar bears, so it is quite common to see mother bears and their cubs wandering the coast scavenging for food while they wait for the ice to form on the bay. In addition to the polar bears, Artic fox, wolves, black bears, moose and caribou in habit the unique ecosystem which surrounds Kaska.
Several years ago we introduced a Bell Long Ranger helicopter at Kaska to give our guests more flexibility for their hunting. The helicopter proved to be very popular with our guests - not only for hunting, but also for the great sight-seeing and nature-viewing opportunities it afforded them.

Accommodating a maximum of sixteen guests per trip, Kaska's two modern four-bedroom cabins, each equipped with a screened porch and full washroom, provide clean, solid comfort in a rustic wilderness camp atmosphere. Kaska Goose Lodge is located at near the tip of a pie-shaped island at the mouth of the Kaskattama River. A series of driftwood blinds have been strategically established along the east and west shores of the island as well as inland along beach ridges under the cover of willows. The main species of geese hunter will find at Kaska are greater and lesser snow geese, Ross geese, greater and lesser Canada geese and Richardson geese. Good numbers of blue geese are found among the flocks of snows.
The Hudson Bay Lowlands in the Kaskattama area is home to a number of polar bears when the ice is off Hudson Bay during the summer and fall season. Kaska's hunters are offered excellent viewing and photo opportunities when taking the helicopter to hunt east or west of Kaska. Black bear, moose, wolves and caribou are also native to Kaska.
