Slippery Winds Wilderness Resort is a jewel hidden in northwestern Ontario, less than 40 miles from the U.S. - Canada border. A short float-plane trip from Fort Frances, Ontario, The lodge is located on a peninsula between Yoke Lake and Straw Lake. This American-Plan lodge offers its guests the opportunity to angle for six species of sportfish, including smallmouth and largemouth bass, lake trout, muskie, northern pike and walleye on six separate lakes that are accessible via boat or short portage. Since purchasing the lodge in December, 1999 we have made many improvements and upgrades to the main lodge, guest cabins, docks, boats & motors and equipment. We are commited to continue upgrading the facilities to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of our guests.

Slippery Winds has practiced catch-and-release for the past ten years and the benefits can be readily observed on the smiling faces of our guests as they recount their day's fishing experiences back at the lodge. At Slippery Winds we want you to relax and enjoy the tranquility and scenic beauty of our area. With this in mind we have limited our capacity to only 18 guests per trip.

Property amenities:
A place just a short distance from the U.S. border that offers the type of fishing that you would expect from a remote Canadian fishing lodge, where there remains unspoiled lakes cut from the pre-cambrian shield by glacier movements thousands of years ago. Combine this with the comforts of deluxe home-cooked meals and friendly service, then you see Slippery Winds Wilderness Resort. Our goal is to ensure your comfort and satisfaction, and while we worry about ensuring that your cabin is clean and your supper is warm, you can ponder how you'll get that 50" muskie or 30" walleye to fall for your bait.

The Main lodge is located between the shores of Yoke Lake and Straw Lake giving you the option of exploring their deep cold waters of Yoke for giant muskies, fiesty smallmouth, trophy lake trout and walleyes or the shallow tanic stained Straw lake for impressive numbers of eating size walleyes and large bass. Our other four lakes are easily accessible via boat or portage from either Yoke or Straw Lake.

Our guests enjoy hearty, home-made meals, including fresh-baked breads and delicious desserts served by our friendly staff in the lodge's guest dining room. If you just can't bear to miss your favorite ball team in action or the latest market news, feel free to relax in the lounge and watch the satellite TV while enjoying a coffee or cocktail.
