Watch for Howler Monkeys and parrots as the sun rises over the jungle river. Transfer to our marine boat at Rosewood Landing, about 1-mile from the coast, for the 30-minute trip to Moho Cay Lodge. Break out of the Jungle into the sunshine and the blue Caribbean.

Moho Cay Lodge consists of raised luxury safari style tents covered by a thatched roof. Solar panels provide electricity for ceiling fans and lights, and the sun also provides warm water for showering. Each unit has its own private stretch of beach surrounded on both sides by tropical island vegetation. The tents are very spacious with hardwood floors, wicker furnishings, and tiled bathroom with walk-in shower. The verandas actually extend out over the water with panoramic view of the blue, blue Caribbean Sea. There’s a restaurant and bar at one end of the cay, an expert chef to prepare fresh-caught fish, lobster and conch from the nearby reef. Dine under the cloudless sky with a spectacular view of the open sea to the east and the distant Maya Mountains to the west. What castaway ever had it better?

Full-day trips to the Sapodilla Cays Marine Reserve, at the southern tip of the Great Belize Barrier Reef, include some of the best snorkeling in the world.
