“We are a small hotel in the largest excavation site of Magna Grecia.” With these words the owner of Hotel Paistos invited us to Paestum. The house is located only 300 m from the sea and close to the famous ancient Greek temples - ideal for all those who seek to combine in their holidays both bathing and cultural excursions.
The owners wish to arrange for a serene and at the same time contemplative holiday feeling for their guests… in which they perfectly succeed: the family-run hotel with its 10 rooms can truly be called a “petit hotel de charme“. Opened in 1997 and renovated in 2006, it not only offers its guests comfort but also that “little bit of something”. The rooms are characterized by happy, harmonious colours. Pictures of artists who have stopped in Paestum create a special flair.
The room we have chosen for you has its own balcony, on which you may let the evening pass soothingly outdoors. On the inside, air condition provides for comfortable temperatures. The standard fitting includes satellite TV and Telefone. Your bathroom is equipped with shower/bidet/WC and hairdryer.
On the large terrace on the upper floor you feel the warming rays of the sun by day and gaze at the twinkle of the stars above Paestum by night. The garden is the best spot to read and to idle. You find interesting and curious books about Paestum, the history, culture and cuisine of Southern Italy in the owner’s small library. Of course you may borrow your “personal favourite” for the duration of your stay.
In Hotel Paistos you can chose between dining in the dining hall and on the restaurant terrace with view of the garden. Lean back and be spoiled: the hotel cuisine has its focus on local specialties. When selecting the dishes, the Marino family pays a lot of attention to the use of seasonal products. Fruit and vegetables are mainly from organic farming. Fish and meat are bought from local farmers. The owners of the hotel are noticeably proud of the fact that the ingredients for their dishes originate “della nostra terra e del nostro mare”, from their soil and their sea. The selection of wines which includes a number of flavoursome Cilento brands completes the menu.

Discover during your holiday at Hotel Paistos the diversity of the Cilento! Water rats find beautiful beaches and clear water along the coast. Lovers of extensive hiking tours will not be disappointed in the national park. For the culturally interested, apart from the temples already mentioned, excursions are possible to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Velia or Padula.

Prices for the rooms are given in Euro per person per day in a double room with private balcony (DR) and either bed & breakfast (B&B), half board (HB) or full board (FB).
The minimum stay usually is 2 days. For bookings of more than 7 days the following discounts are allowed according to the type of board:
Bed & breakfast: 5 Euro per person per day in a double room. Half board: for the months of March, April, May and October 4 Euro per person per day in a double room, for the other months and the Easter holidays 5 Euro. Full board: for the months of March, April, May and October 5 Euro per person per day in a double room, for the other months and the Easter holidays 10 Euro.
