Umbria abounds with glorious medieval villages and towns. Foremost amongst these is the superlative rose-pink home of the patron saint of animals, St Francis, the city of Assisi. Both a religious shrine and a tourist center of enormous impact, Assisi is a 'must' for visitors.
Considered the most unspoilt medieval city in Italy, Gubbio has nestled in its mountain setting over many centuries. The famous 'Festa Dei Ceri' takes place every May 5th and is un-missable. The wonderful stronghold of Perugia is an international center, and sits over its fascinating underground city.
This city abounds with festas, among the world famous Chocolate and Jazz festivals. Siena,San Gimignano, Cortona,and Lake Trasimeno are all within easy reach of the house, and the charming towns of Citta di Castello and Umbertide are the local market towns.
