West Peloponnese is home to some of the best farming country in Greece. The main agricultural areas are along the broad valley of the River Alfios, and in the north- west around Gastouni and Andravida. The mountains to the east of the area give way to uninterrupted plains fringed by golden-sand beaches. Interspersed by pebbled shores and rocky outcrops, these beaches stretch right around Elia’s prefecture coastline.
Aldemar Olympian Village is situated in Skafidia near Katakolo bay and a few kilometres away from Pyrgos the capital of the prefecture of Elia. Some of the areas highlights worth visiting are situated just near to the hotel and in the surrounding area in distances between 5-30 kilometres and maximum 60-80 kilometres.
The highlight of the area is Ancient Olympia, a complex of temple’s priest’s dwellings and public buildings set in a fertile plateau. In the neighbouring mountains lies Foloi, a forest with dense vegetation and high pine trees creating endless shade making it ideal for mountain bikers. River Ladonas is also a densely vegetated river with calm water flowing through out the whole year. It is an ideal place for soft river activities and lots of fun for children. Another place not to be missed is Neda Gorge; in the borders of the prefecture lays a magnificent gorge with narrow cliffs, waterfalls and natural river pools with crystal clear water. Moreover, just a few kilometres from Neda the temple of Apollo is another worth visiting spot. Very close to the hotel there are vast areas of vineyards just near the cliffs overlooking the Ionian coast. Aldemar Olympian Village overlooks the island of Zakinthos, hiding some amazing sandy beaches.
