Natural history adventures in pristine and remote Mitchell Lake in the heart of the Cariboo Mountains Park is what memories are made of. 15 mile long Mitchell Lake lies like an exquisite jewel in the heart of Cariboo Mountains Park. Get in touch with nature as you explore this rare temperate rain forest that exists nowhere else on earth, surrounded by old growth forests - truly ancient forests - with the majestic peaks of the Cariboo Mountains and the Lunn Glacier towering overhead.
Canoe the Mitchell lake circuit, enjoy the wildlife, nature, and discover some truly wonderful plants and rare lichens found only in ancient forests. Hike through the ancient forest and up into Engelmann Spruce uplands and marvel at the diversity of nature’s landscape, plants and animals.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival day. Arrive at our Quesnel Lake lodge, enjoy lunch, orientation session, and prepare for the flight by floatplane to Mitchell Lake. Settle in at the Mitchell Lake Camp and spend the rest of the afternoon discovering Mitchell Lake and enjoying the mountain splendour. (L/D).
Day 2: Canoe the Mitchell Lake circuit, enjoy breathtaking views of the Lunn Glacier and Cariboo mountains, wildlife and total peacefulness along with a symphony of silence. (B/L/D).
Day 3: Hike into the alpine through old growth forests - truly ancient forests. Discover the rare plants and lichens of these ancient forests. Emerge into the alpine and enjoy the diversity of nature's landscapes. (B/L/D).
Day 4: Canoeing and hiking around Mitchell Lake. Discovering the unique features of this jewel of the Cariboo Mountains. (B/L/D).
Day 5: Departure day. After a leisurely breakfast prepare for the arrival of the floatplane to take you back to our lodge on Quesnel Lake. (B).
A 2 day Christian Lake hiking extension is possible. Otherwise day 6 is departure day.
Days 6-8: 8 day trips are an expanded version of the above with an exploratory day hike into Christian Lake. Overnight outdoor camping is an option on this hike. For those looking for a rugged adventure hike up to the Lunn Glacier. Day 8 is departure day. (B/L/D).

Not Included: Gratuities, liquor, international airfares to pickup point at Williams Lake.
Depending on the trip chosen guests need to bring camera (preferably with a telephoto lens), film, a good pair of binoculars, proper footwear, backpack, day pack sack, hat, rain gear, sleeping bag, clothing that can be layered, personal toiletries.
