Visit two of the finest whale-watching areas in Baja to double your chances of getting right up close to the whales . We arrange for you to stay in a comfortable hotel in La Paz the night before we depart for the trip and also for you to stay in a hotel between whale-watching trips at the fishing village from where our boats depart.
Your Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive in La Paz, transfer and check into hotel. Meet your guide at 9.00pm.
Day 2 - Transfer to the Pacific Lagoons, passing through the extraordinary Baja desert with its tremendous variety of cactus. Arrive at the Fishing village of Lopez Mateos and have a picnic lunch on the shores of Magdalena Bay. Carefully chosen for its ease of access you will probably already begin to see Gray Whales spouting in the Lagoon! Then embark on motor boat trip. Typically within minutes of clambering aboard we are out in the bay surrounded by Whales. The spectacle is quite amazing and during this 3 hour trip several up close encounters are practically guaranteed. Returning to the shore we will then transfer to Port San Carlos for a delicious evening meal and rest in a comfortable hotel. Includes:
(B) (L) (D)
Day 3 - We will rise to a light breakfast before our second whale encounter. Another 3 hour expedition in a high speed motor boat will take us passed Bird Island with its shroud of sea birds. We'll probably see dolphins and sea lions on route before arriving at the Gray Whale Breeding ground. Last season several of our groups experienced the whales swimming alongside the 'pangas' giving them an opportunity to pet them. We will return to Port San Carlos for lunch and then transfer back to La Paz. Includes: (B) (L)
Notes:
Airfare is not included in the tour price.
Dates are scheduled in the peak season, so that you may well get an opportunity to pet these gentle giants!
