Special canoeing skills are not required. The tour starts in Whitehorse on the Yukon River with the compass needle set north, and we pass many relicts of the historic gold rush of 1898. The expedition travels over 320 kilometers on this mighty river, exploring several abandoned settlements such as Hootalinqua and Big Salmon Village. Camps are set up on the gravel & sand banks of the mighty river where one can enjoy a refreshing bath in the Yukon.
Black bears are quite common in the Yukon valley and are often seen by our guests. Watch the ridges of the cliffs along the river to spot the busy mammal. Moose are numerous in the forested foothills, and bald eagles nest along the river banks. Beavers are busy getting their winter supplies in, and several times we have seen grizzly bears strolling along the shoreline. Around the camp fire we will hear some interesting stories about the first river travelers. At the Yukon River bridge in Carmacks we will part from our canoes and travel with our van via the Klondike Highway back towards Whitehorse.

Day 1: After picking up our guests from the Airport we do a Tour of Whitehorse, check all our supplies and later head out on the River. Included: (L), (D).

Day 3: Lake Laberge. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 4: Finish of Lake Laberge. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: Yukon River. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6: Confluence of Yukon and Teslin River. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7: On the Yukon River, arrival in Carmacks, Transfer back to Whitehorse, Hotel night included. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 8: Departure or continue with Week 2 and Trip to Dawson City for another 13 days. Included: (B).
