Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Today is your arrival in Chittagong, reception and breakfast in town. Then a scenic drive up into the Burmese foothills to Bandarban, and casual sightseeing around this colorful native market town. We'll visit local Buddhist shrines, a Marma village, the Tribal complex and the Bohmong King's residence. Afternoon options include Sangu river cruises by country boat, swimming or strolling along the sandy river beach, a visit to the hanging bridge, waterfalls and lookout points. Typical evening pastimes are visiting the homes of the locals (with home-brew for the thirsty), observing tribal cultural festivals and activities as per season, tea-stall crawling or perhaps just checking out the bazaar. Overnight in a hillside ecolodge. (B) (L) (D)

Day 2 - We begin with a tour of Chimbuk peak, Meghla tourist and a tribal before travelling deeper into the interior via Lama to Ali Kadam. Then we take a short and easy walk to a small, hilltop Mru village. Here we settle down to fully enjoy and experience firsthand the unique, self-sufficient Mru culture. The Mru commonly wear only loincloths (both genders), so feel free to make yourself comfortable and at home. Overnight we're be hosted by the village headman and his family. (B) (L) (D)

Day 3 - We spend among the Mru and learn about their unique culture. Probably among the most peaceful and non-violent people on the planet. We take an easy jungle walks to explore the local flora and fauna, halting at a few other villages to see their traditional agriculture, handicrafts of weaving, basketry, gourd making, etc. In the evenings the villages liven up and we'll enjoy a Mru party with youths singing, story telling, and playing their unique bamboo & gourd bagpipe-like flutes. Overnights with village hosts or an eco-cottage. (B) (L) (D)

Day 4 - You continue as Day 3 to experience the truly unique lifestyle of the Mru and gain a deep understanding of thier culture and life-style. (B) (L) (D)

Day 5 - Today we take leave of Mru hosts, and via Ali Kadam and Lama, we drive to the seaside resort of Cox's Bazar. After hotel check-in and lunch, it's beach time, with plenty of bargain shopping opportunities. In the evening we explore the colorful markets and shrines. Overnight at a tourist class hotel (hot showers and cold beer). (B) (L) (D)

Day 6 - Today starts with an exciting morning speedboat trip to the sacred island of Maheskali. Here we see an ancient hilltop Hindu temple, visit the Buddhist 'Moghpara' with its shrines, handloom weaving centers, gold and silver smiths. Back to Cox's for a late lunch and more beach or shopping. Optionally, we may visit the nearby Buddhist town of Ramu. Overnight at our hotel. (B) (L) (D)

Day 7 - This morning we return to Chittagong and depending on your departure time, explore this historic port city by either painted rickshaw or air-conditioned coach. The goldsmith alley, Reazuddin bazaar, colonial architecture, temples and more. Then after a farewell meal we take your leave at the airport or train station. (B) (L)
