Your Itinerary:
Day 1 - Arrive Nairobi, Kenya
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport - Nairobi, you will be welcomed by our representative and assisted for your transfer to your luxurious hotel facing the Ngong Hills. Welcome to Kenya! Ngong House or similar.
Ngong House lies on the outskirts of Langata, on the land once cultivated as Karen Blixen's coffee estate. Paul Verleysen, the charming owner, had the concept of a private home that would also offer exclusive and personalized service to a small number of guests. Germane to the concept was that the accommodation would be original, would fit seamlessly within the landscape, would utilize indigenous materials and styles, and would benefit from Paul's engineering skills.
Days 2-3 - Amboseli National Park
After breakfast you will be transferred to Wilson Airport to catch your scheduled flight to Amboseli, famous for its magnificent views of neighboring Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest mountain. Amboseli’s hosts over 1000 elephants in the Park eco-system, which are some of the biggest elephants in Africa. It is also home to herds of zebra and wildebeest and their predators, as well as more than 300 species of birds. Tortilis Camp is situated just outside the park in one of Amboseli’s few remaining areas of unspoiled woodland, with the stunning backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain – Mount Kilimanjaro. Explore the park on morning and afternoon game drives. Tortilis Tented Camp. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Seductively embraced by a romantic hillside setting, Tortilis Camp lies on the edge of Amboseli National Park. The main lodge building is open sided and gazes out onto the soaring snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. You may see the mountain from both bar and dining room. What nicer than to enjoy the delicious Italian food, in which Tortilis specializes, and simultaneously to watch Mount "Kili" slowly reveal itself from behind the clouds - food for body and soul.
Days 4-6 - Lewa Downs
After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Wilson Airport Nairobi and take a connecting flight to Lewa Downs, situated north of Mount Kenya, south of the Samburu Game Reserve. One of Kenya’s major private conservation successes, Lewa Downs has been the Craig family home since 1924. Endangered species abound in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. The family home accommodates 16 guests in comfortable thatched cottages with en-suite bathrooms. The food is wholesome, ranch style and organically grown. Activities include night and day game drives in 4x4 vehicles, on horseback, on camels and escorted bush walks. There are incredible bird-watching opportunities, cultural visits with local communities, visit to prehistoric sites and farm and craft tours. Wilderness Trails. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
One of Kenya's original ranches, Lewa Downs has been the Craig family home since 1924 when the Craig grandparents came from England and began raising cattle here. Now incorporated in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, which includes Anna Merz's highly respected Ngare Sergoi Rhino Sanctuary and the Ngare Ndare forest, the area is committed to the conservation of the extremely diverse indigenous wildlife and habitat, as well as benefiting the local community by providing employment, schools, and clinics.
Days 7-9 Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Breakfast and transfer to Nanyuki Airstrip for your morning flight to the Maasai Mara. The Mara is a unique area with constant and unrivalled flow of wildlife throughout the year. From July to October the Mara becomes a backdrop for one of the last great natural wonders of the world, when 1.4 million wildebeest and zebra surge up from the Serengeti plains in their annual search for the seasonal grasses that sustain them. Other animals found here are predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyena and other plains game. You may opt for a balloon safari, where you rise over the gently rolling landscape of the Mara. The flight over this African Paradise lasts about an hour and on landing a lavish champagne-style, picnic breakfast is served. Truly the experience of a lifetime! (not included in price) Little Governors’ Camp (BLD)
Package includes;3 game drives or applicable local activities, transfers to and from local airstrip
The Camp that Africa’s old hands swear by, Little Governors’ casts its spell over all who visit from honeymooning couples to Presidents. "Our favorite camp in the Mara" according to the guide ‘Kenya’s Best’. Intimate in character, there are just 17 tents tucked around a large watering-hole that teems with animal and bird life. From every veranda the view changes daily: Giraffe and Lion, Elephant and Warthog.
Getting here is an adventure in itself, you first have to cross the Mara River by boat, then walk a short distance, escorted by armed guards, through the forest. All the tents are comfortable and tasteful. Each has en-suite bathroom, hot water, even bidets. In keeping with safari tradition lighting is by gas and kerosene lantern or candlelight. As dusk falls the flickering lights in the forest make the camp a uniquely peaceful and atmospheric place. The guide "Kenya’s Best’ adds: "There is something about this camp that is very friendly, yet private. Guests seem to enjoy mingling with the staff and each other, and because of the smallness of the camp, you really feel special." Meals are of our usual superlative standards, served, as is our style, outdoors during the day or in our candlelit dining tent. In any Governors’ Camp we’re happy to cater for all tastes or needs, just let us know. Come the evening it’s time for chilled drinks and tall tales around the blazing campfire. Then, finally, a delicious dinner and a hot-water bottle to keep you warm in bed.
