Only twenty minutes from Barcelona, Sitges has preserved its heritage and its environment without ceasing to be one of the most tolerant and hospitable towns on the coast. Sitges has seventeen beaches and 300 days of sun per year, houses of a quite blinding whiteness and beautiful Modernist architecture. Modernism was one of Catalonia's most original and important contributions to universal art. An entire group of artists and intellectuals gathered around Santiago Rusiñol in Sitges and El Cau Ferrat. In Sitges you can also find many houses built by " americanos" those who had made their fortune in the Americas and then returned to Spain.
After visiting Sitges, you will continue to Igualada for a wine tasting, followed by a cooking demonstration and lunch at Cal Ble, prestigious Arts Center and Gourmet restaurant integrated in a Modernist building. Its restaurant enjoys the view of its modern kitchen, designed by Paul Valet, who also designed the kitchen for the restaurants of Alain Ducasse. Fresh, tasty and high quality products are the base of the excellent cuisine of Cal Ble.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: Barcelona - Sitges - Igualada - Cal Ble – Barcelona
Departing from Barcelona, you will first visit Sitges (half an hour from Barcelona), its beaches and Modernist monuments as well as its museums, if desired. Then you will be transferred to Igualada (around one hour driving). At Cal Ble, you will participate in a wine tasting featuring Catalan wines, and then will enjoy the view of the cooking activity of its kitchen. Lunch will be based on the excellent local food.
