Cross the grand Sahara from Ghadames to Ghat, explore the stunning scenery of Tadarart Acacus and the Wadi Mathendoush, and traverse the giant dunes of the Ubari Sand Sea and explore the beautiful Sahara and its nature museum. With the opportunity to visit the great Roman cities of Leptis Magna, Tripoli , Sabratha and the fascinating centuries-old grain store of Nalut.

Itinerary:

Tripoli - Nalut - Ghadames - Ghat - Acacus - Wadi Mathendoush - Murzuk Sand Sea - Germa - Ubari Sand Sea - Sabha - Gharyan - Leptis Magna – Tripoli and Sabratha.

Your Itinerary

Day 1:
Day 1 : Europe - Tripoli

Meet guide on arrival at Tripoli airport and transfer to Bab al-Bahr Hotel overlooking the Mediterranean and the medina .

Day 2:
Day 2 : Tripoli – Nalut – Ghadames 630 km.

Visit the centuries-old grain store of Qasr al-Haj and the hilltop grain store/citadel of Nalut. Continue to Ghadames for two nights.

Day 3:
Day 3: Full Day Ghadames

Sightseeing in the enchanting oasis town of Ghadames with its labyrinthine passages and unique architecture with a visit to the cultural museum. Late afternoon excursion to see the sun set over the Sand dunes.

Dinner will be taken in a richly decorated traditional house.

Day 4:
Day 4-5-6 : Ghadames - Al-Awainate – Ghat " Over-land desert route ".

Start of the huge Sahara desert adventure, traveling off-road alongside the Algerian

border to Al-Awainat and on to Ghat.

Day 4 & 5 wild camping and third night at campsite in Ghat.

Day 4-5-6 : Ghadames - Al-Awainate – Ghat " Over-land desert route ".

Day 7 : Ghat – Acacus

Tour the Tuareg town Ghat which was once a trading post for caravans from Africa to Leptis Magna, Sabratha and Oea " Tripoli" . After continue to Acacus.

Furnish our camp close to sand dunes of Acacus arch.

Day 8:
Days 8-9-: Acacus

Exploration of the magnificent Acacus with its spectacular scenery and millennia-old rock art. Also visit Wadi Mathendoush with its ancient petroglyphs, and the fringes of the immense Murzuk Sand Sea. Wild camping with last night at hotel in Germa.

Day 9:
Days 8-9-: Acacus

Exploration of the magnificent Acacus with its spectacular scenery and millennia-old rock art. Also visit Wadi Mathendoush with its ancient petroglyphs, and the fringes of the immense Murzuk Sand Sea. Wild camping with last night at hotel in Germa.

Day 10:
Day 10 : Germa – Ubari Sand Srea – The lakes

Visit the museum and the remains of the ancient Garamantian warrior civilization. After we enter the Ubari Sand Sea " Baher Arrimal " to experience the great Sand dunes and visit the desert lakes Gabroun – Mandara and Um-Alma. Time to rest and enjoy a cooling swim at Lake Um-Alma. Wild camping among the dunes.

Day 11:
Day 11 : Um-Alma – Ubari Sand Sea – Sabha

Continue exploration of the Ubari Sand Sea and exit to Sabha. Dinner /Overnight

at hotel.

Day 12:
Day 12 : Sabha – Gheryan

Full day drive to Gheryan .

Day 13:
Day 13 : Gheryan - Leptis Magna – Tripoli.

Excursion to the magnificent Roman city of Leptis Magna with a visit to its museum.. Late afternoon we continue to Tripoli .

Dinner / over-night at your hotel.

Day 14:
Day 14 : Tripoli – Sabratha. 73 km.

Morning sightseeing in Tripoli, capital city of Libya, including a visit to the National Museum, Green Square, Arch of Marcus Aurelius , the mosques and traditional souks of the old town. In the afternoon, excursion to the magnificent Roman site of Sabratha with its marvelous Colonnaded Theatre, public lavatories with fine sculptures of naked goddesses!. Late evening drive back to Tripoli.

Dinner / Over-night at your hotel .

Day 15 At leisure until time for transference to Tripoli international airport for flight home.
