This is a 9-night (8 full days surfing) boat trip to one of Indo’s prime and least crowded surfing areas – West Java’s Panaitan Island. ‘TRACKS' surf mag (August 2002) rates Panaitan Island as having the two best waves in Indo, including perhaps the longest lefthand barrel in the world, One Palm Point.
Surfing Panaitan Isle is like pulling in at Jurassic Park! The entire area is World Heritage Listed and home to smouldering volcanoes, untouched tropical jungle, foolproof fishing, wildlife like nowhere else (including rhinos, Javanese gibbon, panthers, deer, and crocodiles), and some of the most flawless reef set-ups in the world. This is one ‘out there’ tropical surf destination.
The Waves
All Panaitan's waves are within one bay so there’s less time cruising between breaks, more time surfing.
- One Palm Point - long hollow left point that spins out freight train barrels over a shallow reef. This wave has been ridden for up to 800 meters (not a misprint) and has been described as the undisputed best and longest barrel in Indo.
- Napalms - perfect barrelly left unloading over an inner-bay reef. Top-to-bottom pit perfection.
- Pussys - easy left with workable walls breaking in deep water.
- Illusions - epic right reef with workable walls and barrel sections.
- Indicators - wally right breaks on smaller swells.

Day 1:
Meet in Jakarta, drive to Java’s West Coast, board Nomad for cruise to Panaitan.

Surf West Java & Panaitan Isle onboard ‘Nomad’
Get amongst it. You’ve got 8 full days to surf and fish the waters around the island. Depending on swell and wind conditions, take your choice of the challenging but flawless and long pointbreak barrels of One Palm Point, the more forgiving barrelly lefts of Napalms, the fun and mellow long walls of Pussys, and the righthanders of Illusions (long & wally with barrel sections) or Apocalypse’s top-to-bottom barrels on the other side of the island’s bay.

Day 3:
Surf West Java & Panaitan Isle onboard ‘Nomad’
Panaitan Island is a part of the World Heritage listed Ujung Kulon National Park. Most of the island is dense jungle and is uninhabited but is teeming with wildlife such as Javanese gibbons, deer, and panthers. The mainland section of the National Park is one of the last remaining refuges for the endangered one-horned Javanese white Rhinoceros. There are walking tracks on the island if you wanted to explore on land, as well as shipwrecks to discover that have been grounded on the reefs surrounding Panaitan.

Day 9:
AFTER YOUR FINAL DAY OF WAVES ON DAY 9 THE 'NOMAD' WILL DEPART PANAITAN ISLAND AROUND SUNSET FOR THE OVERNIGHT CRUISE BACK TO MAINLAND JAVA.
If your group is keen for a stop at Krakatau volcano on the way back to Java just let your skipper know and he’ll leave Panaitan Isle earlier in the day.

Day 10:
Drive to Jakarta, trip completion
The 'Nomad' will pull into the mainland port on Java’s West coast in the early morning today. After breakfast the group will take chartered transport for the 2-3 hour drive to Jakarta. Travellers will be dropped off at the Jakarta airport by midday, or at their preferred Jakarta accommodation.
PLEASE ARRANGE FOR AFTERNOON OR EVENING FLIGHTS IF YOU ARE FLYING OUT OF JAKARTA TODAY.
Further travel arrangements rest with individual travellers upon arrival in Jakarta.
