Your Itinerary
Day 1:
– Join in Sydney or Melbourne
Sydney guests join the Indian Pacific this afternoon at Central Station. Travel
Gold Kangaroo Service through the spectacular Blue Mountains then across
country New South Wales. (d) Melbourne guests join The Overland at Spencer
Street Station this evening travelling Gold Kangaroo Service. Enjoy a drink in the
Lounge Car before settling down for the relaxing overnight journey to Adelaide.

Day 2:
Sydney guests. The train crosses the Darling River and skirts the shore of
Lake Menindee on its way to Broken Hill. Arrive in Adelaide after lunch, with
time to see the city sights (optional tours are available in both Broken Hill and
Adelaide at small extra charge – payable en route). Board The Ghan late afternoon
and head outback. (b) (l) (d) Melbourne guests are served breakfast before
arriving in Adelaide. A guided tour of the city is included and there is some
free time prior to joining The Ghan late afternoon. (b) (d) Adelaide guests
join The Ghan this afternoon at Keswick Rail Terminal. Dinner is served as we
travel north towards Spencer Gulf and Port Augusta. (d)

Day 3:
Enjoy breakfast aboard The Ghan whilst viewing the Central Australian desert
sunrise, blue skies, red sand and age-old river courses. Upon arrival in Alice
Springs late morning you will be transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is
free to explore. Accommodation: Mercure Inn Diplomat or similar. (b)

Day 4:
Join your coach tour to Ayers Rock, travelling through the rugged MacDonnell
and James Ranges and stopping to view flat topped Mt Connor.Meet the symbol
of The Ghan on a visit to a Camel Farm. Lunchtime arrival at Ayers Rock Resort.
Experience the outback surroundings with an afternoon walk at Mt Olga Gorge
followed by sunset at Ayers Rock. Accommodation: Outback Pioneer Hotel
(standard) or Sails in the Desert (deluxe).
Day 5:
Early start to see the desert sunrise. Then a leisurely guided walk in the National
Park to Mutijulu waterhole and ancient rock paintings. Explore the base of The
Rock too or, for the more energetic, make the climb to its top. Learn about the
flora and fauna of this region as well as its Aboriginal traditions. Package
concludes at Ayers Rock Resort. Free transfer to the airport available.
