A three-night unsurpassed wilderness camping experience within the Kruger National Park, which is unrivalled in its variety of wildlife – 147 species of mammals and more than 500 recorded species of birds. The safari is named after the park’s most famous character, Harry Wolhuter. As one of the original park rangers, Harry patrolled the old Sabi Game Reserve alone on horseback, camping at night in the remote areas of the park. During his years in the Park, Harry had numerous adventures and close encounters with animals and it was his book “Memories of a Game Ranger” that inspired the creation of “The Wolhuter Safari.”
Guests are driven into the reserve in open safari vehicles by a registered ranger, while a support team goes ahead and sets up camp in remote and breathtakingly scenic locations. Our rangers will enthrall you with their passion and knowledge of the bush and its inhabitants. The best game viewing by day and bush comfort by night in the heart of Africa – an extraordinary and unforgettable experience!

Day 1 ARRIVE HAZYVIEW • KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
(Borton Overseas can assist you with transportation to Hazyview). Guests depart Hazyview at 12:30 PM in an open safari vehicle to Skukuza Main Camp in the Kruger National Park. Arrive in time for lunch (own account) and an introduction to the park. Use this opportunity to shop, as there are no shops at our campsites. This area of the park offers excellent game viewing; we can expect to see general game, possibly lion and elephant and maybe even an elusive leopard.
The Kruger National Park has identified several “wilderness” campsites for the exclusive use of the tented safaris within the central section of the park. Each site, situated in an area of unspoiled natural beauty, is rich in bird and animal life. On arrival, guests are shown to their tent before meeting for sundowners and dinner under the stars. We hope to be in for a noise-filled, exciting evening! Serviced Camping (D)
Days 2-3 KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
An early wake up call with freshly brewed coffee, tea and biscuits are followed by an exciting game drive to explore one of Africa's greatest game reserves. From our privileged private wilderness sites, we have the freedom to access areas of the park rarely visited. Chances of seeing one or all of the famed “Big Five” are excellent, and of course the smaller plains game species and the wonderful African bird life is prolific. Morning safaris are complemented by delicious “bush breakfasts” and a siesta is always possible during the heat of the African day! No safari to the Kruger would be complete without visits to sites of historical and cultural importance. Sites such as the Wolhuter Memorial, Orpen Dam and the old transport riders' roads all add interest to the day's safaris and bring to life the early pioneering days of the area. Guests return to camp for a sumptuous dinner around the campfire with opportunities of exchanging anecdotes and experiences of the day’s activities and hopefully view game by spotlight. Serviced Camping (BD)
