Staying in the historic centre of Siracusa, the safest and most chic Sicilian destination, on the lovely Baroque island of Ortigia, this tour - for no more than 8 guests - offers lots of market shopping and tastings at Ortigia's bustling and colourful food market and we'll make many mouth watering lunches besides.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: After settling in to your room at the charming Oicos Hotel, in a 17th century Palazzo, Carmelita invites you to take a Welcome Aperitivo at a chic café on Piazza Duomo at 7pm. Followed by a Welcome Dinner out, dining on a lovely Terrace overlooking the twinkling nights of the harbour. (D)
Day 2: Market tour and shopping at 8.30 am then our first cooking class at 10.00 at the home of Mariana and Patrice. Local guests may join us for the lunch we make together! Optional walking tour of Ortigia at 5 p.m. Carmelita will provide suggestions and recommendtions for dinner out (for those who can manage it after our sumptouous lunch)! (B) / (L)
Day 3: Optional Market shopping at 8.30 am and Cooking Class 2 at 10.00. After lunch you are free to take a siesta and to go shopping, sightseeing, strolling or dining out later. (B) / (L)
Day 4: We set off together at 8.00 am to visit a local artisan cheese maker and then we go on to our third cooking class with local cook Anna, held in her own home. We'll return to Ortigia in time for you to shower and change and take a stroll or dine out, if you so wish - most people, can only manage a very light supper after our many course lunches! (B) / (L)
Day 5: Optional Market shopping at 8.30 am and then Cooking Class 4 at 10.00. For those interested, there is an optional activity in the afternoon, a Behind the Scenes look at the historic tradition of Sicilian Puppet making at 5.30 p.m. Then if you like we can attend a Sicilian Puppet Show at 9 p.m. (B) / (L)
Day 6: Optional Market shopping at 8.30 am and our fifth and final Cooking Class 5 at 10.00. Afternoon option of a Sicilian Wine Tasting at 5.30 p.m, after which the evening is yours to enjoy. (B) / (L)
Day 7: A Free Day to enable you to sightsee a little further afield, or to spend the day shopping or even on the beach. We have our Farewell Dinner Out at one of Siracusa' best restaurants at 8 p.m. (B) / (D)
Day 8: Feddback froms,farewells,final photos and departure by 10.00 am please. (B)
