What do Italians eat for their festive Christmas meals? The answer, as usual, is "It depends where they're from", for like everything else, Italian Christmas meals vary from region. We'll be lmaking some of the Christmas sweets that are traditionally made at home and tasting those that are bought at your favourite Pasticceria as well!
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival after 4 pm, to give you time to settle in until Carmelita serves you with your Welcome Aperitivo. followed by the Welcome Dinner she has prepared for you. (D)
Day 2: Today's class starting at 10 am focusses on the Christmas fare of Central Italy (Tuscany, Umbria, the Marches, Rome). We'll make a light lunch, and also prepare ahead for tonight's dinner at 7.30 pm. (B) / (L) / (D)
Day 3: Today we visit local food shops in your cars, to see what festive fare is on display, and to buy some for ourselves! We take lunch out and in the afternoon, our second cooking class at 4pm focusses on making stuffed pastas for Christmas. (B) / (D)
Day 4: A free day so that you can go sight seeing and Christmas shopping in the elegant shops of nearby Lucca. Carmelita will be waiting for you with another delicious Italian supper at 8 pm. (B) / (D)
Day 5: Today we have two classes, making both lunch and dinner and we'll be looking at the traditions of Southern Italy, where fish and non-meat dishes play a major part. (B) / (L) / (D)
Day 6: Perhaps the richest Christams meals are those of Northern Italy, so that is what we'll make for our last Italian Christmas meal. As this is our Farewell Feast, we'll be making many courses, so Cooking Class 5 will start at 10 am, and then we'll meet again at 4 pm to complete preparations. (B) / (L) / (D)
Day 7: Time to fill out the feedback forms, take final photos and say goodbye. Fare wells and departure by 9.30 am. (B)
