The volcanic area of New Zealand includes the Bay of Plenty - Taupo region. It is best known internationally for Rotorua, the city of geysers, mud pools and Maori culture. As well as seeing the awesome power of nature and the accompanying spell-binding scenery, there are great Golf Courses, like Wairakei International Golf Course, and a huge variety of other activities. You can fish for trout in one of the many lakes or rivers. The fly fishing is unsurpassed. You can hike through the many tracts of native bush, or around the mountain trails of Tongariro National Park. There is hunting (photographic is you like), whether for deer or game birds, or riding trails on quad motorcycles. Again there are the luxury lodges on the side of a lake or overlooking a river. Quiet secluded and personal, with the service you desire.
