Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Selous Safari Camp
Only 45 minute flight to Siwandu airstrip from Dar es Salaam, you will be met by your professional guide who will drive you to the lodge. Selous Safari camp is a classic luxury tented camp located on the banks of Lake Nzerakera in the most prolific and thrilling game viewing area of the Selous. The 9-tent camp is spread along the lake shore and has its own sitting, dining area, and swimming pool, providing a very personal and intimate safari experience. Selous Safari Camp. Includes: (D).
Day 2: Game Drive - Fly camp
After lunch at Selous Safari Camp guests will take a 3.5 hour game drive to the fly-camp area, the camp is situated in a grove of shady trees one and a half hour drive from the main camp. This wildlife rich area is virtually untouched with very few roads or vehicles and is located close to the major game trails which the animals use in moving to and from water. The walking safaris in this area provide the guest with an unforgettable experience getting as close to nature as possible observing Africa’s great wildlife on foot. Cold drinks, a crackling campfire, and a delicious three-course dinner await us. Evening falls…we lay in our mosquito-netting tent, looking at the stars, as the sounds of the Selous night lulls us to sleep. Fly Camping.
Dome-shaped, and made of mosquito netting, the tents provide unimpeded views of the African night-sky. They are fully insect proof, with fitted ground-sheets and are spacious enough to stand up in. Beds are comfortable mattresses with crisp linen. Outside each tent is a stand with basin, towels and soap dish, reminiscent of old safari days. There is a bucket shower- with hot water available at all times of the day - located in such a way that it provides an enthralling view over the lake. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3: Walking safari
After the first night sleeping in the bush, guests will embark on a full mornings walking safari arriving back at camp in time for lunch. Walks are accompanied by an armed professional guide and Askari (warrior). All walks are at a slow leisurely pace. However it can get quite hot, guests should have the fitness to walk about 13 km at a time over rough terrain in hot weather. After a small snooze and some tea and coffee there is the afternoon walk leaving at 16h00 and returning to camp at around 18h30 as the sun sets. Fly Camping. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 4: Walking Safari - Selous Safari Camp
This morning begins with breakfast followed by a short morning walk, before returning to Selous Safari Camp by vehicle enjoying a game drive en route. Arrive in time for lunch. Remainder of afternoon and evening is at leisure. Selous Safari Camp. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: Depart
Breakfast and transfer to the Selous airstrip for your onward arrangements. Includes: (B).
