Our starting point is El Chalten, a tiny community of guides, artisans and summer-resident Argentines. From there we'll hike onto the different base camps situated around the Fitz Roy and Torre massifs. These base camps are used by climbers from all over the world every season to stalk the elusive windows of perfect weather necessary to climb in Patagonia.
Once we've reached the camps, we'll be a short hike from incredible viewpoints in the Park, with views of the famous Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre granite giants. We'll also be able to appreciate the subtle and fragile web of life in these southern beech (lenga and coihue) forests. From there we’ll continue on, back to El Calafate, and to the legendary Perito Moreno Glacier. A hike will take us to the top of Cerro Buenos Aires, a mountain situated in front of the glacier and the best point to appreciate the glacier's full size and dimensions. Then it’s off to Torres del Paines in Chile where we’ll hike around the Torres and Cuernos del Paine, visit Grey Glacier and pause to enjoy the many viewpoints of these incredible granite sentinels. A boat ride on Lake Pehoe is included in this visit.
For those who prefer intimate contact with the places they travel to, this is the trip of choice. You won't be required to carry heavy loads since horses will transfer your belongings to the camps. That way you can store your energy for what matters the most: exploring your surroundings and having fun!

Day 5: Excursion to the Cerro Torre Glacier. From our base camp we'll cross the Fitz Roy River via a Tyrolean traverse and approach the glacier, where we'll strap on crampons to hike on the ice.
