Tour Itinerary:

Day 1:
Drive along the rugged West Coast, through Langebaan, Saldanah and Vredenburg to Lambert's Bay. Overlooking the lagoon in Langebaan, we stop for lunch at Spinnakers Restaurant. Dinner/Bed And Breakfast at Lambert's Bay Hotel.

Day 2:
After breakfast we head for Bird Island. In 1959 the island was joined to the mainland by a breakwater. Bird Island is home to cormorants, jackass penguins and Cape gannets. The island provides an ideal site for bird watching at close range. A boat trip on the Atlantic Ocean follows, where we hope for some interaction with the dolphins. Afternoon at leisure. A perfect end to the day: dinner at the Muisbosskerm Fish Restaurant. An "amphitheatre" on the beach providing a fish feast! Bed & Breakfast at the Lambert's Bay Hotel.

Day 3:
Today we journey to Springbok, the capital of the Namaqualand. Depending on the summer rainfall, for a few weeks in spring (mid August to September) a colourful carpet of the most beautiful wild flowers will transform this region. One of towns through which we travel today, is Vredendal. The Vredendal Co-operative has one of the largest cellars in the country. We will visit the wine cellar where tours and tasting can be experienced. Lunch en route. Dinner in Springbok. Bed & Breakfast At Mountain View Guest House.

Day 4:
We depart for the Augrabies Falls National Park. Augrabies is a Khoihoi word for "place of great noise". From a suspension bridge one can view the spectacular falls. This thundering mass of water plummets from a height of 56m into a 20m wide ravine, said to be the largest gorge through granite on earth. Lunch en route. Dinner/Bed & Breakfast at Augrabies Falls National Park.

Day 5:
Today our destination is the Molopo Kalahari Lodge, close to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. We will pass through the towns of Kakamas, Keimos and Upington. The first hydro electrical power station to be built in South Africa is found in Kakamas. In a canal beside the main street of Keimos, one can view the almost extinct sight of a waterwheel. This waterwheel still turns today, its metal canisters raising the precious water from one level to another. In Upington we will visit the museum and do wine tasting at the Co-operative Wine Cellars. Lunch at "Le Must Restaurant". Dinner/Bed & Breakfast Molopo Kalahari Lodge.

Day 6:
An early departure will allow for a full day of game viewing in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, where large herds of antelope abound. With a bit of luck we will see the Kalahari lions, significant for their size and black mane. Breakfast and lunch will be served in the designated picnic spots in the park. Dinner/Bed & Breakfast At Molopo Kalahari Lodge.

Day 7:
After breakfast our course will take us in the direction of Namibia. We travel via Rietfontein, the border control post between Namibia and South Africa, through Aroab, Koes and Gochas to the Auob Lodge. As we drive through the red dunes of the Kalahari, look out for the huge sociable weaver nests, which form continuous landmarks along the way. Lunch packs en route. Dinner/Bed & Breakfast at Auob Lodge.

Day 8:
An early rise will allow for a nature drive on the farm before we depart for Windhoek. Lunch en route at the Bitterwasser Lodge. During the late afternoon we will reach our final destination, Windhoek, where you will be disembark at the establishment of your choice.
