The Veneto is a region of contrasts of plains that stretch from the Adriatic shores of the Venetian mainland, through the fertile farmland north of the Po, to the Alpine foothills of the Dolomites. The contrast between the steep, sharply defined, exhilarating slopes of the foothills and the soft, dreamy plains is intriguing. We wander through an idyllic landscape of rolling green hills and vineyards crossed by canals and dotted with elegant villas of the Doges of Venice.
The Veneto is blessed with splendid architecture, the legacy of the Venetian nobility. We visit Palladian villas, the country estates of the Venetian Doges built by the best Renaissance architects and artists of their time. The Veneto is also a region of beautiful, small medieval centers such as Asolo, Bassano del Grappa and Treviso. Last but not least the region is also home to Prosecco which is the Italian equivalent of champagne and flows liberally in the Veneto.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Pick up In Treviso. Transfer to Follina. On arrival visit the Abbazia di Follina the 12th century Cistercian Abbey, most famous for the basilica containing a fresco by Francesco da Milano and take a short stroll . Tonight our dinner is a special treat at one of the Veneto's most famous restaurants.

Day 2: Today we hike to Praderadego in the foothills of the Dolomites. The trail takes us through birch and pine forests and offers breathtaking vistas of the Dolomites the Alps and Venice. In September you will see the first autumn wildflowers. We can have lunch at a mountain top restaurant serving typical mountain fare; grilled meats, polenta and mushrooms or we can take a picnic if the weather is fine. On returning to the hotel there is time for a whirlpool bath or a visit to a cashmere factory.

Day 3: This morning we take a short transfer to Mulineto della Croda where our trail begins. We walk through fields and vineyards over the hills alongside the Lierza River. From the top point of our walk we get stunning views of the Venetian plain below. From here we continue onto lunch at Refrontolo a small hamlet set around a tiny piazza with views across the densely forested and sparsely populated hills that surround. After lunch we continue downhill to the Mulinetto della Croda, one of the most interesting buildings in the region. It is a small mill built in the 1600's which has been carefully restored and the wheel of the mill is turned by the waters of the Lierza River.

We then drive towards Asolo our next destination. In the late afternoon we arrive in Asolo.

It is also famous as a centre of silk manufacture and you can still watch silk weavers use 18th century looms in the outskirts of the city. Then, we take a walk through the hills surrounding Asolo.
