Il Melograno and Diane Seed shares the gourmet secrets of Puglia. An English woman who has spent over 30 years in Italy studying, cooking and writing about he incredible cuisine of Italy, Diane is best know for her beautifully illustrated Top One Hundred Pasta Sauces which has sold over 1 million copies, been translated into 10 languages and is still reprinting. Eating Out in Italy is a traveler's Bible for finding the best restaurant. Among her many books is Diane Seed's Mediterranean Dishes which was inspired by her love of the Mediterranean countries and the rich variety of their food.
Diane teaches cooking classes at her favorite hotel, "Il Melograno", on the coast of the Adriatic in the "heel" of Italy. The hotel, owned by an antique dealer who loves the Pugliese country side, is a restored sixteenth century masseria filled with antiques and surrounded by century-old olive trees, walled citrus gardens and white terraces filled with flowers.
Students take part in "hands-on" cooking lessons preparing the healthy and delicious cuisine of Puglia using the finest local ingredients. Excursions include a visit to a local farm to see cheese-making and the local orecchiette pasta being made, a lesson on traditionally preserved vegetables in olive oil, a visit to the medieval white hill top town of Ostuni, a visit to Monopoli to explore the old town with dinner at a local fish trattoria, the "turlli" houses of Alberobello and Lecce, the famous Baroque jewel of a city to shop for local pottery crafts and foods and a visit to the Olive Oil Museum. During free time, students can take advantage of an outdoor pool framed by lush citrus and pomegranate trees, tennis courts and a private beach which includes a fish trap dating back to Roman times.

"I very much enjoyed the cooking tour and meeting Diane. She is wonderful. Puglia was beautiful. The weather could not have been nicer as it was sunny and in the low 80's every day. It was great seeing a completely different area of Italy. And I loved il Melograno--it is a lovely hotel. I look forward to my next Italian adventure! Thanks very much. As always Cuisine International makes it so easy to find and book these tours." V.C, Los Angeles, CA
