Only a few people have seen the extraordinary desert islands that populate the Sea of Cortez. Experience by kayak the diverse natural history of Espiritu Santo, Isla Partida, San Jose, and Santa Cruz Islands.
Snorkel with playful sea lions, paddle through green grottos opening onto cavernous amphitheaters, and into mangrove-lined estuaries where a variety of seabirds nest. Marvel at the sight of giant barrel cactus and hike an arroyo where colorful birds reside.
Our large motorized support vessel enables us to transport easily between the islands in comfort and safety. It carries all camping equipment, personal gear, and the makings for flavorful meals.
Your guide will paddle with you sharing their knowledge of the area, take you on nature hikes and snorkeling adventures. Our crew handles camp chores and prepares all meals.
2006 Trip Departures: March 10-19; Mar 30- Apr 8; Apr 19-28; Oct 13-22; Nov 2-11; Nov 22- Dec 1.
Itinerary (note: trip begins in La Paz, ends in Loreto)
Day 1 - Arrive in La Paz transfer to hotel. On your own for the evening;
Day 2-8 - Board our motor vessel to begin adventure. First stop Isla Espiritu Santo. Kayak instruction, hiking, snorkel with sea lions at Los Islotes. On to Isla San Jose for exploring by kayak and foot. Next stop Isla Santa Cruz. Kayak and snorkel along their rocky shoreline. Last stop, Playa Ballena on Baja's mainland. Kayak, snorkel or relax on the beach;
Day 9 - Morning activities, transfer by motor vessel to Loreto. Overnight hotel included. On own for the evening;
Day 10 - On your own for departures home.
