Day 3: The hike up into the Teleki Valley to the Mackinder's Camp. From the Met Station the trek will be through a wide swath of deep bog, and in the event of rain (which is likely), the going will be even slower. The hike today will be 5 to 7 hours. Overnight at Teleki Valley (13,900 ft).

Day 4: An early pre-dawn start is scheduled to ensure a summit bid in time for the majestic summit scenery at dawn. Although not of a technical nature, the hike to the third highest peak of Mount Kenya (Point Lenana at 16,355 ft) is physically strenuous. The track involves approximately a kilometer hike up the valley, crossing several small rock outcrops and a swampy area before starting the scree ascent to Point Lenana.
