Your Itinerary
Day 0 (Saturday): Board ferry in Port Hardy for a 9:30 pm departure.
Day 1 (Sunday): After a nite aboard travelling through Queen Charlotte Sound you awaken to the vessel in the "Inside Passage" with some short stops at McLaughlin Bay, Shearwater and Klemtu. At Klemtu, home to the Kitasoo and Xai Xais you have a few hours ashore with a chance to explore and take in a cultural tour often offered when the ferry arrives to this small community. Departing Klemtu the ferry brings you down to the town of Ocean Falls where you will meet your captain and tour guide for the next few days and welcomed aboard the Viking 1. As it is late we introduce ourselves and get you settled in preparing for the next day.
Day 2 (Monday): Depart Ocean Falls travelling down Cousins Inlet and turning up Dean channel to visit Sir Alexander MacKenzie Rock, where in 1793 he wrote his name on this rock. We will anchor in scenic Elcho Harbour, where the protected waters are great for paddling and the crew will set the crab traps for an evening snack.
Day 3 (Tuesday): Back into Dean Channel and along King Island to Eucott Bay where we bath in the hotsprings whare a homemade tub on the beach can accomadate 6. Relax, paddle around and observe the seals and birds of the area.
Day 4 (Wednesday): A morning soak in the pool if you so deaireor a walk along the beach and we are off to explore Cascade Inlet, named by Captain Vancouver for its many waterfalls.
Day 5 (Thursday): More paddling as we make our way back out Dean Channel towards Cousins Inlet.
Day 6 (Friday): Return to Cousins Inlet, stopping along the way to see the Petroglyph at Benn Point. Arriving back in time for a "walkabout" around this small community, once a thriving Papermill that was closed down several years ago. We say our goodbyes as you board the ferry and return to Port Hardy.
Day 7 (Saturday): 9 am arrive back in Port Hardy.
