Perhaps you own your own boat and would like to get some professional guidance and experience before you set off on your own voyage. Or you have always wanted to sail the world’s oceans but, wisely, want to try it before investing your life savings in an ocean going yacht. Or perhaps you are a passage veteran and just love the peace and freedom of mid-ocean and need a fix! All passages are participatory cruises where every one is part of the crew- standing watches, cooking meals and keep Scovare in shape as she carries us safely across the ocean. If you have ever wanted to cross an ocean or see if the sailing life is really for you- this is the place to be.
Join Scovare for a 3-week voyage to Hawaii. We begin in the city of Roses for a two-day cruise down the Columbia River to Astoria. During this time we stow our gear for the crossing, get comfortable with Scovare and ease into our watch routine. After any last minute provisioning in Astoria we jump off the edge of America for a sleigh ride to the tropics. Enjoy reaching the trade winds, watching flying fish avoid our airspace and marvel at the open ocean and the inhabitants that come visit. Challenges of this passage are navigating around the north pacific High, some heavy weather as we leave the coast and keeping good boat speed for the crossing. Those challenges are rewarded with the magical experience of mid-ocean and watching the green hills of Hawaii rise from the sea.
