Introductory marble sculpture workshop in Tinos:

We invite you to enrich your experience of your trip to Greece by joining an introductory 1-day seminar on marble sculpture. In the oldest marble workshop of the picturesque island of Tinos, your hosts will provide you with information on geology and formation and quarrying of marble, and hands-on work with basic hand tools used by carvers.
Trip Summary:
Day 1: Travel from Athens to Tinos - By high-speed boat travel from Rafina to Tinos (2 hours). Settle to your hotel in one of the beaches of the island. Free day.
Day 2: Introductory marble workshop seminar - Attend a 5 hour - (9am - 2pm) introductory seminar addressed to beginner carvers. Your hosts will provide you with information on geology and formation and quarrying of marble, and hands-on work with basic hand tools used by carvers.
Day 3: Return to Athens or extend your stay in Tinos or another Cycladic island.

The island of Tinos, is the home of many famous Greek marble sculpture artists. A beautiful island with amazing beaches and rugged mountainous beauty, traditional villages that despite tourism still retain their Cycladic style. We invite you to enrich your experience of your trip to Greece by joining a 3-day workshop (5 hours per day) on marble sculpture. In the oldest marble workshop of the picturesque island of Tinos, you will concentrate on bas relief carving and be able to complete a small relief carving in the three days with a great deal of assistance. Tools and marble will be provided and these carvers will receive a basic understanding of the medium of marble and marble carving techniques.
